Privacy policy

How Shravya World handles your personal data, in plain language. It covers www.shravyaworld.org and the shared Shravya account used across our apps.

Last updated 21 September 2026

Who we are

Shravya World runs this website and the shared Shravya account. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here. Each Shravya app may publish its own notice for anything it collects beyond this.

What we collect

When you create an account

  • Your email address or mobile number, whichever you sign in with, and your name and profile photo if your sign-in provider (for example Google) shares them.
  • Your role on the platform, your S-Coin and points balances, and when those changed.

When you send us something

  • Ideas, feedback and project enquiries, with the contact details you type into them.
  • Knowledge Base articles, gallery creations, forum posts and Shravya Connect offers, including any location you enter for an offer.

When you use the assistant

The questions you ask the Shravya assistant are sent to Google’s Gemini API to produce an answer. We keep a count of questions per account to enforce a daily limit.

Browsing as a guest

“Continue as guest” creates an anonymous account with no name, email or number. Guest accounts and their data are deleted automatically after a few days of inactivity.

Email

If your account has an email address we may email you when something you sent us is reviewed; you can turn that off in Settings or from the link in any such email. The newsletter is only sent to people who asked for it and, unless their address was already verified, confirmed it from a link we emailed. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe. We keep a record of each email sent (address, subject, time and whether it was delivered) so we can answer “did it arrive?”.

Visit counts

We count visits and page views as daily totals, without cookies and without storing anything that identifies you. See the cookie policy for how.

We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

Why we use it

  • To sign you in once and keep you signed in across Shravya apps.
  • To show, review and publish what you send us, and to reply to you.
  • To keep your rewards balance and prevent the same reward being claimed twice.
  • To keep the service secure, for example by blocking an account that is abusing it.

We rely on your consent, given when you create an account or send a form, and on the legitimate uses the DPDP Act allows.

Who processes it for us

ProviderWhat for
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Hosting, Functions)Accounts, the database, uploaded files and serving the site
Google Gemini APIAnswering assistant questions and generating images our staff request
Google FontsServing the typefaces the site uses; your browser requests them directly
Brevo (Sendinblue SAS)Sending the emails described above: notifications, confirmations and the newsletter
HostingerOur inbox, when you write to us or reply to an email

This infrastructure runs in the United States (Google Cloud, us-central1), so your data is stored outside India. We will disclose data to authorities only when Indian law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Account data: for as long as the account exists. You can delete your account yourself from Settings. Your profile, contact details, drafts, submissions, rewards and newsletter subscription are then deleted; work you had already published stays, credited to “Former member”; and a record holding only the account id and the date it was deleted is kept so the old account cannot be recreated by accident.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, when your address is marked unsubscribed so we never add it back without your say-so.
  • Guest data: deleted automatically, usually within a week.
  • What you send us: until it is dealt with and for as long as it is useful to understand what was asked. Published content stays until you or we remove it.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
  • correct or complete it;
  • erase it, and withdraw consent you have given;
  • nominate someone to exercise these rights if you cannot.

Write to support@shravyaworld.org from the address or number on your account. If you are not satisfied with our answer you may complain to the Grievance Officer below, and after that to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

Some Shravya apps, such as Playhouse, are made for children. A child under 18 should use them through a parent’s account or with a parent’s consent. We do not knowingly track children or show them advertising. If you think a child has given us data without consent, tell us and we will delete it.

Security

Access to data is enforced on the server by security rules, not only by what the screen shows. Sign-in sessions are held in an HttpOnly cookie that page scripts cannot read. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries, all needed for the site to work. The cookie policy lists each one.
